This is a fixed term appointment until December 2027 and is part time at 0.6fte.

This role is also available as a secondment opportunity for internal staff.

The Head of Research Management Operations is central to the success of the Law School. The post-holder will work closely with the Research Director, the Law School Manager and the Dean to support world-leading research in Law. They will contribute to and help to realise our research strategy including advising on external research funding pre- and post-award in conjunction with LSE’s Research and Innovation Division. The post-holder will play a key role in preparations for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, ensuring timely collection and reporting within the Law School and feeding into LSE-wide processes. The post-holder will manage internal research funding allocated by Research Committee, and will oversee through their team the administration of our PhD programme and financial management and reporting.

Candidates must have extensive administrative experience in Higher Education, and excellent knowledge of the UK HE funding landscape including the operation and requirements of the REF. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential as well as experience of producing high quality reports and data to support decision-making, as is a commitment to learning and using automation and innovation to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Financial management experience, and experience of initiating and building networks, are desirable.
