As our student community continues to grow at Sheffield Hallam University, we have an exciting opportunity for proactive individuals to join our Admissions team.
As a front-facing service, the Admissions team are one of the initial points of contact for applicants and enquirers. We are responsible for assessing applications to study with us across our whole portfolio of courses.
As an Admissions Officer, you will assess student applications efficiently and accurately against agreed entry criteria and relevant legislation, and issue course offers to applicants via the university's student records system.
You may also respond to queries submitted by e-mail, social media, phone or in person, and liaise with our overseas offices.
You will also work with Course Leaders and other College contacts to ensure that course information, including entry requirements, is accurate and up to date.
We are looking for people with a strong commitment to customer care and team working, who are highly motivated with excellent communication skills. The ability to work independently and maintain quality during busy periods is essential, which means excellent organisational skills are a must.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.
Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/49th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 22% of your salary). For a starting salary of £25,000, for example, the University would pay just over £5,400 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of £510 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).
If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the LGPS and remain in the USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.
Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from all candidates irrespective of age, pregnancy and maternity, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status.
For this job we particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic applicants who are underrepresented in this area/ this type of job at Sheffield Hallam.
The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route so if you are an international applicant, you will need to ensure you have an appropriate visa to evidence the necessary right to work in the UK.
