Oxford is seeking an operations lead to drive the delivery of the Laboratory for AI Security Research (LASR), a flagship programme at the heart of a national effort involving government, academia and industry.
You’ll manage the full operational portfolio: governance, reporting, financial oversight, legal and contractual frameworks, and programme-wide planning. You’ll work closely with senior academic and professional leaders, serve as the primary interface with the funder and external partners, and help shape internal processes to keep a complex, high-stakes programme running smoothly. Expect a fast-moving environment with minimal precedent, where good judgement, autonomy and clear communication matter.
We’re looking for someone with strong financial and analytical competence, experience working at a strategic level with research collaborations or funders, and a track record of steering complex projects to successful delivery. You’ll need to work confidently with sensitive information, negotiate effectively, build productive partnerships, and keep multiple teams aligned. Experience with higher education administration, research studentships or AI-related programmes is an advantage.
Security clearance will be required; appointment is dependent on obtaining SC (and subsequently DV) clearance.
