About the Role
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious Lecturer in the Centre for Immunobiology and Infection, Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The post holder will conduct research related to the immunology of tuberculosis within the newly established QMUL/Barts TB Centre.
The post holder will work within the research group of Professor Graeme Meintjes and within the TB Centre more broadly, in collaboration with other researchers within the Centre and the Blizard. It is envisaged that their research will focus on immunology questions in TB, with a particular focus on the contribution of the host immune response to pathology in TB. The appointee will be expected to develop their own research projects within the context of the overall research programme and obtain independent research funding to support their research. The post holder would be supported in applying for new grants.
The post holder will also contribute to the intellectual life of the Institute and wider institution. They will make contributions to student education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of teaching activities in the subject areas of Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
About You
The successful candidate should have a PhD (or have submitted a PhD) in a relevant subject area. They should have an appropriate track-record of high-quality research in the field of immunology, including publications in renowned journals. Experience of research in the field of tuberculosis is desirable. They should have demonstrable ability in developing research proposals, bidding for and securing external research funding, and subsequent effective award management skills.
