About Us

We seek to appoint a Group Leader (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level) to develop an independent, interdisciplinary research programme in immunology and/or inflammation biology at King’s. The post will be based at the Centre for Inflammation Biology and Cancer Immunology (CIBCI), Department of Inflammation Biology, School of Immunology & Microbial Sciences, on the Guy’s/London Bridge Campus. The successful candidate will drive innovative research and education, aligned with the activities of the Centre and contributing to King’s position as a global leader in biomedical research, training, and education.

CIBCI provides 1200 m² of interactive research space, including open-plan laboratories, cell culture suites and state-of-the-art facilities. Researchers also benefit from a large open-plan office and dedicated PI offices.

CIBCI’s interdisciplinary programme brings together academics, clinicians, and trainees to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning inflammation and tumour immunology. This vibrant community applies experimental and computational approaches to advance understanding of inflammatory disease and cancer. Current research areas include immune cell signalling, immunometabolism, cancer immunology, wound healing, neuro-immune interactions, antigen processing and presentation, and the function, differentiation, and regulation of innate and adaptive immune cells.

About the role:

As an independent investigator within CIBCI and SIMS, the successful candidate will be expected to set up and lead an independent research programme scientifically aligning with the priorities of the Centre. We are particularly interested in key fundamental questions in leukocyte biology from the single-cell up to the whole organism, in the context of cancer and/or inflammatory disease.

The appointee is expected to supervise wet and/or dry lab junior investigators and to submit internationally competitive grant applications and scientific papers as PI or co-PI.  In addition, the post holder will be expected to contribute enthusiastically to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and educational leadership in their area of expertise in line with the Department, SIMS and King’s educational activities.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract - subjected to academic probation
