About the role:
We are looking for an administrator to work as a Section Manager in the Department of Immunology and Inflammation within the Faculty of Medicine. This position provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience of a broad range of administrative processes at Imperial College London.
What you would be doing:
The Section Manager role focuses on linking our academic and research staff to the College’s wider administrative processes. You would be a primary point of contact for our academic and research staff and students, providing guidance for administrative and operational issues. This means you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing projects, where your tasks include monitoring and approving spend, and advising academics on the best use of funds in line with Imperial and funder policies.
You will also play a key role in supporting research grant applications, coordinating the process to ensure that grants are costed accurately and submitted in a timely fashion. You will work closely with our People Function team for managing HR processes, as well as colleagues in the Joint Research Office, Finance, and Education.
What we are looking for:
This is a varied and challenging post that requires you to master a wide skill set. Therefore, you must be able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You should be well organised and have an ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
Prior knowledge of full economic costing methodology, grant funding rules, and College costing processes are desirable, but are not essential as comprehensive training will be provided.
What we can offer you:
