We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Plant Physiology and Ecology to join School of Applied Sciences team. The post holder will support students on our environmental and conservation science programmes.

It is expected that the post holder will contribute to research within the School, including within one of its research centres.

Experience and knowledge of plant sciences is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of applied plant sciences, such as sustainable crop production, climate change mitigation and nature-based solutions. Expertise in plant taxonomy is also welcome. 

About you

  • You will have a science-based PhD relevant to environmental science or, if from a professional practice background, a Master’s qualification together with significant professional practice experience.
  • You will deliver teaching on our environmental and conservation science courses, as well as supporting and organising student field trips.
  • Depending on your expertise, you may also teach on our MSc Sustainable Food Systems.
  • You should have experience of teaching and assessment at an HEI and be able to demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching.
  • You should be able to demonstrate your experience of leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and organisational skills.
  • You will be expected to demonstrate how you will keep abreast of latest developments in your subject area and external best practice benchmarks.
  • You will be supported in this role by an experienced senior lecturer as a mentor.

This role is campus based for at least 50 per cent of your time, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
