Aston University is seeking an experienced and motivated Research and Innovation Manager to support the effective delivery of the BioSolar Nexus Research Project, a major Innovate UK-funded initiative led within the Department of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering.

The postholder will coordinate research, technical development, field deployment, and stakeholder engagement activities across a multi-partner consortium, working closely with the Principal Investigator to ensure compliance, integration of work packages, and successful delivery against project milestones. This role will suit a proactive professional with strong organisational capabilities and proven experience in managing research or innovation projects.

Key responsibilities include coordinating project planning and monitoring, managing budgets and risk registers, supporting governance and reporting, and overseeing documentation, procurement, subcontracting, and logistics. The role will also lead dissemination and knowledge-exchange activities, support stakeholder and community engagement, and contribute to the commercialisation and exploitation planning of project outputs.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Science and demonstrate experience managing research or innovation projects within academic, R&D, or industrial environments. Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, together with experience of working within multi-partner or international collaborations. Experience with Innovate UK/UKRI projects, energy or sustainability-related research, or IP and commercialisation activities would be an advantage.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact research programme focused on decentralised, off-grid renewable energy solutions, working within the dynamic research environment of the School of Engineering & Innovation.
