The Role

We are recruiting to the role of Deputy Dean (Computing) to join our newly formed School of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment and to take a leading role in the management of  the computing side of the school. We deliver programmes in Computer Science, Cyber Security,  Software Engineering, AI and Data Science, and games development. Computing is an established area within the school and this role is critical in terms of senior strategic leadership and management, student experience and outcomes, RKE, portfolio development, and relationships with industry and PSRB. This post aligns with the university’s strategic objectives by enhancing credibility with academic, technical, and professional services staff; by strengthening industry partnerships and external visibility; by supporting continuity in student experience and curriculum development, and by promoting diversity, equality and inclusion.

Key responsibilities will include academic leadership and management which support the Dean of  the school, implementing strategies for student experience, leading the development of RKE, and managing academic staff.

The successful candidate will have skills and experience in academic and professional leadership necessary to build academic excellence, a thorough understanding of computing as a discipline, excellent communication skills, strong data analysis and organisation skills and an ability to work proactively under pressure. They will also have a track record of success in a similar environment.
