About the Role
Genes & Health is a long term Bio Resource study of individuals of Bangladeshi or Pakistani heritage. Genes & Health aims to understand how genes influence health and diseases and is a long term, initiative to improve population health for Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities.
The bilingual research assistant is an essential role in delivering the portfolio of health studies conducted within the Genes and Health clinical research facility. This role will contribute to research investigations in collaboration with and under the supervision of the research nurse and research coordinator. The post holder will actively recruit volunteers/participants to Genes & Health recall studies and conduct research data collection. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the delivery of high-quality research at Queen Mary University of London.
About You
A highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, fluent in Urdu who is passionate about improving the health of the South Asian community. You will need prior experience of dealing with patients or public, in person and over the phone. You will be someone with excellent verbal communications skills who will be able to convey complex and sensitive information to patients and volunteers. You will have some experience of health research delivery, Good Clinical Practice certification and motivated to learn new skills relevant to the role such as phlebotomy.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
