About the Role

The Research Assistant will work across the new GRACE Programme funded by the Alzheimer’s Society and the NIHR Dementia and Neurodegeneration Policy Research Unit at Queen Mary (DeNPRU-QM). You will support both programmes flexibly working in collaboration with PI, Prof Claudia Cooper and each programmes senior team to deliver high quality research and outputs. Based on QMUL’s Whitechapel campus, the role will require travel to research sites across the UK.

About You

You should be enthusiastically committed to conducting research that makes an impact and a team player looking for a post-Master’s challenge to develop your research skills and experience in dementia and/or a similar neurodegenerative condition. You will need to strong at multi-tasking as you will work on one or more projects utilising quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods on DeNPRU-QM. On GRACE you will gain experience in co-production and work with our Patient and Public Involvement members. The post holder will regularly engage with a variety of stakeholders including people living with dementia, family carers and professionals.

The Unit of Psychological Medicine, is a part of the Centre for Psychiatry & Mental Health at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health. It has a focus on academic discipline, research, the translation of research into public health strategies and their practical implementation – all dedicated to the reduction of disease and disability.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for up to two years with an expected start date of 01.03.26. The starting salary will be Grade 3 £33,263 - £38,419, inclusive of London Allowance.

Interviews will be held in person at the Yvonne Carter Building, Whitechapel, London in late January.
