The Role
The Direct Works Team are looking for an experienced & reliable Maintenance Electrician to join their dynamic team in day-to-day maintenance across the University.
Based within the Estates & Facilities Service you will undertake a variety of Electrical maintenance and installation tasks, as well as supporting other Estates & Facilities (E&F) teams and trades as required.
The team has responsibility for the safe, efficient and effective development and management of the University academic and residential estate. The estate is seen as a strategic enabler in support of the University Vision and Strategy.
The role is to provide a high-quality and customer focused maintenance and installation service to the University. The role will be carried out in support of academic, commercial, residential and other University activities.
You should be qualified to City and Guilds Advanced standard, NVQ level 3 or equivalent and/or have served a recognized apprenticeship or undergone modern training to an equivalent standard. Working as part of the Maintenance team you will be carrying out efficient, effective repairs and planned preventative maintenance on all types of Electrical plant and equipment.
There are physical elements of this role including working at height and confined spaces. Newcastle University campus is vast, covering 50-acres with more than 100 buildings, to enable you to undertake this role a works vehicle will be provided when required , it is therefore essential you hold a UK driving licence.
The successful applicant will be required to join our 24hr emergency on call rota, and may occasionally be required to work evening or weekends.
