Faculty / Directorate
You will join an employee relations and policy team who are passionate about providing a high-quality people management advisory service to managers and colleagues. Our HR Advisors support each other and work closely with the People Partners in providing a joined-up colleague focused service.
Role
You will empower people managers and leaders by providing purposeful HR advisory support across a wide range of people management matters, including managing attendance, improving performance and conduct, and addressing complaints or issues relating to staff behaviour. You will deliver HR advice on change management activities such as pay and grading processes, employment status matters, restructuring, and service reviews, while supporting managers with casework through both informal resolution and formal processes from investigation through to hearing and appeal. The role also involves researching and presenting data and information to inform management decisions, both verbally and in writing, as well as creating content for manager and colleague self-service intranet pages, including facilitating management training linked to key people management policies. Throughout all activities, you will work in a way that promotes and embeds a culture in which difference is valued.
Ideal Candidate
You are a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to quickly build positive professional relationships in a hybrid working environment. As a flexible HR professional, you can work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including trade union representatives and colleagues from employee networks. You bring a curious and pragmatic approach to problem-solving, enabling you to influence and support people managers to get the best from their teams. You are a credible HR Advisor who applies up-to-date knowledge of employment law when advising managers on available options, and you are confident in your coaching skills, with the ability to assess and break down complex workplace situations into clear, actionable steps for managers and colleagues.
The post is advertised as 37 hours per week. We are keen to play our part in ensuring a vibrant city campus so whilst some home working is possible the HR Advisory team attend in-person meetings as required and work in-person on the Leicester City campus at least 2 days per week.
