Background
The City Law School is the first in London and University of London to educate students and practitioners at all stages of legal education. The School has made significant advances in both research and education and seeks to build upon that success to become one of the UK’s leading law schools as it takes advantage of the new regulatory landscape for legal education. An opportunity has arisen for a Student Engagement Officer to join us on a fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
The appointed Student Engagement Officer will be responsible for helping to identify and address barriers which prevent students from engaging with learning. This includes providing administrative support for attendance and engagement monitoring, and other related processes; working with students and support services to identify and address concerns relating to students, and ensuring the reasonable adjustments policy is implemented effectively.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have relevant experience of working in a busy customer focused environment ideally, in Higher Education or a similar setting. They should be confident using IT systems, including MS office packages, spreadsheets and databases. Experience of student records systems (particularly SITS) is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have well-developed verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to draft correspondence and reports, knowledge of data protection requirements and experience of handling sensitive information. They will also have excellent organisational skills, the ability to analyse problems and identify solutions and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
