The Department
The Academic Quality and Standards Office oversees the maintenance and enhancement of standards, and all quality assurance activities, processes, and policies on behalf of the University for its internal and external academic provision. It is a key player in ensuring that policies are adhered to, and translate into excellent academic practice across the University’s and academic partners’ provision. It plays a significant role in advising, training and guiding staff and students on the implementation of regulations and the operation of quality assurance systems, and the monitoring of their effectiveness. It also supports curriculum and course development and external compliance arrangements and works closely with a number of key stakeholders across the institution and externally.
The Role
This role is instrumental in supporting the implementation and continuous development of processes that ensure the effective delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of End-Point Assessment (EPA) for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships. It involves close collaboration with staff to coordinate activities related to Gateway processes, EPA delivery, evaluation procedures, and updates to apprenticeship standards.
The postholder will also play a pivotal role in supporting the University’s strategic aims in meeting Ofsted-related requirements. In doing so, they will contribute significantly to demonstrating compliance with regulatory conditions set by the Department for Education (DfE), Skills England, Ofsted, Ofqual, and other relevant authorities, as part of the University’s registration as an End-Point Assessment Organisation and its broader apprenticeship delivery responsibilities.
The Person
The postholder will have prior experience working in an Apprenticeships role within a Further Education or UK Higher Education setting for an educational provider. A strong and current understanding of the Apprenticeship landscape and End-Point Assessment (EPA) is essential. Knowledge of the UK Higher Education regulatory environment, particularly in relation to quality and standards, is desirable.
The postholder will also have experience in report writing and contributing to the development of procedural documentation and supporting and enhancing quality assurance processes.
The postholder will also have the ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and at all levels within an organisation.
