This is an exciting opportunity for a world class, senior academic to lead the Faculty’s Research and Knowledge Exchange portfolio.
You will have a strong personal academic profile in a discipline aligned to the Faculty and be an experienced leader within the context of relevant UK HE policy including the REF and KEF.
The University’s vision set out in the Strategic Plan 2030 is to transform the leadership and workforce of our Place through inclusive student success and world class research. To do this, we need to increase the capacity for and quality of our research and enterprise across our portfolio of subjects. Building on the success of our previous Strategic Plan, our focus for the next decade is on research that benefits society and economy, embedding an inclusive and collaborative research culture. Our vision is to build on our academic excellence to address societal challenges and improve lives through world-class impactful research, making a lasting positive difference in our region and globally.
The Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange will be responsible for translating that vision to Faculty level, providing a compelling vision as to how the Faculty of Science and Engineering will be the driving force, providing the leading contribution to the overall strategy and direction of travel across the institution. Working with the Faculty Dean, Associate Deans, Heads of School, Heads of Research Centres and the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, they will lead a programme of transformation to ensure that the Faculty makes a positive contribution to the achievement of the key success measures.
