About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Trials & Community Studies Lead to join Oxford Cancer, a city-wide research initiative and partnership between Oxford University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, Thames Valley Cancer Alliance, and the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. This post is responsible for managing the delivery of Oxford Cancer’s cutting-edge portfolio cancer studies and trials which seek to utilise advanced information systems technologies to streamline research participation and study all those effected by cancer in their communities.
You will lead the oversight and management of a portfolio of digital trials, including the implementation of operational plans required for cohesive management of multiple projects. You will act as ambassador for the widespread uptake of digital trials through participation in national committees, events and patient groups. You will work closely with PIs, providing significant input into the design of digital trials included in the portfolio, ensuring study design will enable scientifically valuable study outcomes to be met in realistic timeframes and within budget.
You will take responsibility for day-to-day management and monitoring of budgets, advise on financial planning, and work with data management staff to develop reporting tools and analysis of data to support metrics generation for study reports, making this feedback patient-friendly where required.
This post is based at the Churchill Hospital, OX3 7LE and is offered on a full-time fixed-term basis until 31st March 2028 (part-time hours, minimum 0.8 FTE worked over no fewer than 4 days, may be considered).
About you
You will be educated to postgraduate level in a biomedical or related subject, or hold other relevant qualification or experience. You will have demonstrable experience of working to (and ensuring others work to) standards pertaining to the delivery of clinical studies in line with UK clinical research structures. You will have a detailed working knowledge and track record of delivering digital trials, working to necessary standards including the Electronics Communications Act, NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit, Health Research Authority (HRA) Remote Trial Guidance and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Security Guidelines. Excellent organisational, project management, communication, and presentation skills are essential, as well as attention to detail and high standards of accuracy. Experience of clinical study management in the oncology setting is desirable.
