We are inviting applications for an enthusiastic and organised Research Student Administrator to join the Postgraduate Office, within the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge. This new role will manage student funding mechanisms and will coordinate the postgraduate research programmes in the Faculty.

The role holder will support the Postgraduate Office Manager in developing and maintaining several administration systems and processes. The Research Student Administrator will be part of the Postgraduate Office team which supports all aspects of postgraduate education for the two Mathematics Departments. As such the role will both benefit from and contribute to the knowledge and experience of the team.

The Research Student Administrator will be part of the Faculty's Postgraduate Office which supports all aspects of postgraduate education for the two Mathematics Departments. The office currently supports two doctoral (PhD) programmes and four master's (MMath/MASt + MPhil) programmes and works closely with the academics who are responsible for these programmes. Across the Faculty there are 270 research students and 300 taught Master's students actively studying each year. In addition, the office supports the Mathematics Degree Committee and oversees the administration of examination and award of degrees for 30 MPhil and 70 PhD students annually.

The successful candidate will be educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualifications or have equivalent level of practical experience and have experience of developing/reviewing administrative processes and systems. It is essential to have demonstratable experience and competence in all Microsoft Office packages, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The right candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills, the ability to work efficiently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and demonstrate knowledge of administration involving a critical understanding of operational requirements ideally in an educational environment. You will have the ability to work flexibly and be supportive of colleagues.
