Programmes Administrator

University of Bath - Faculty of Engineering & Design

Location: Bath
Salary: £26,707 to £30,378 Grade 5
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 23rd December 2025
Closes: 18th January 2026
Job Ref: KP13312

About the role

We are looking for a pro-active and motivated individual to join the Faculty of Engineering & Design’s Courses and Assessment Support Team (CAST) as a Programmes Administrator.  The successful candidate will join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient administration of the Faculty of Engineering & Design’s taught degree programmes. Working closely with both professional services and academic colleagues, you’ll help ensure an excellent experience for our students.

As part of a small, collaborative team, flexibility and teamwork are key. Your main focus will be on assessment-related processes throughout the academic and student lifecycle, but you’ll also provide day-to-day administrative support for teaching, assessment, and student data management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining accurate student records on the University’s database.
  • Supporting Directors of Studies and liaising with external examiners.
  • Responding to enquiries from students and academic staff.
  • Assisting with core assessment and progression activities across departments during peak periods.

If you’re organised, adaptable, and enjoy working in a supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you.

Our ideal candidate:

  • A considerate team-focused mindset.  Supporting colleagues and contributing constructively to a collaborative working environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills.  Managing multiple tasks and deadlines with ease. Maintaining accurate records and tracking student progress.
  • Strong digital skills. Comfortable working with university systems, and programme records. Confidence to quickly learn and embrace evolving digital platforms.
  • Great communication skills. Engaging confidently with students, academic colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach. Taking initiative and working with autonomy when needed.

Experience in the use of university-specific software (e.g. Moodle, SAMIS/SITS and Business Objects) is desirable, though not essential, since training will be provided. Most important is an interest in our work, a willingness to become fully involved in both team business, and the life of the faculty and its departments.

Further Information

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) open ended basis from April 2026

We are committed to supporting staff and student well-being, delivering exceptional service, and upholding the University’s reputation. If these values resonate with you and you thrive both as a collaborative team player and an independent self-starter who takes initiative and ownership, we would love to receive your application.

We are currently operating a hybrid work model, so there would be the opportunity to work from home if desired, with a three day per week minimum on campus requirement.  One of the on-campus working days must be a Wednesday.
