The Head of Quality Enhancement & Assurance is a key role in supporting Strathclyde's vision to provide an outstanding education and student experience. The University is looking for a skilled and creative leader, committed to delivering enhancement-led approaches to quality assurance and governance.
FTE: 1.0 (35 hours per week)
Term: Open
The University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university built on excellence in research and the provision of an outstanding student experience. Our commitment to delivering high-quality learning and teaching continues to reflect our founding mission as a place of useful learning. The University is looking for a creative leader to manage and influence key aspects and emerging priorities related to quality enhancement and assurance in line with our academic governance. As a member of the Education Enhancement (EE) directorate leadership team, the post holder will have responsibility for leading a team committed to providing expertise on academic policy and strategic quality enhancement across the University, working closely with the Director and Deputy Director. You will also work closely with the Vice Principal, University Secretary, Deputy Associate Principals, and with colleagues in faculties and professional services, to ensure effective engagement with QAA Scotland and other key external bodies.
You will be expected to provide authoritative expert advice and guidance at the highest level on the effective management of quality, standards, and institutional statutory obligations within the Scottish and UK higher education regulatory systems, and inform and lead cross-institution, strategic priorities and programmes of work relating to Scotland’s Tertiary Quality Enhancement Framework (TQEF). This includes leadership for the ongoing management and implementation of major internal and external review processes incorporating Tertiary Quality Enhancement Review (TQER) and Institution-Led Review.
This is a significant area of activity for the University, key to our strategic ambitions for education and the wider student experience. You will excel at working within a team environment, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate innovation and creativity to inspire confidence, motivate staff and co-operate with colleagues across the institution to enhance the quality of our education provision and the student learning experience. You will have responsibility for management of staffing and budgetary resources within this area, managing risk, and advising and reporting to institutional committees, including Education Strategy Committee and Senate.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on 25 February 2026.
