Education and Academic Services / Wellbeing Services

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

This new part-time, term-time post is available immediately.

Summary of the role

Health and wellbeing are crucial ingredients of effective study and play a key role in helping students enjoy a rich and fulfilling student experience. Our Wellbeing Centre provides a base where we aim to help students with emotional and mental health difficulties succeed in their studies and make the most of the opportunities offered by a new and diverse learning environment.

The Wellbeing Centre has been established to provide a range of health promotion events on campus, as well as to develop illness prevention and intervention services. Our vision is to offer accessible and flexible support for the whole range of wellbeing issues that can impact upon student learning.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic staff who can contribute to our vision for Wellbeing Services through offering comprehensive initial triage appointments to our diverse student community while advancing our University-wide outreach work with the Sports Centre.

Matrix-managed by the Sports Park and Wellbeing Services, this part-time role is based between the two services, playing a vital part in promoting student wellbeing through sport. The practitioner will:

  • Deliver psychoeducation sessions to enhance mental health literacy and resilience among student athletes and sports participants.
  • Act as a key point of contact for sports-related welfare concerns, providing early intervention and support.
  • Coordinate signposting and referrals, working closely with both the Sports and Wellbeing teams to ensure students receive timely and appropriate support.

You will be skilled at identifying wellbeing needs, triaging, identifying and assessing risk, referring to specialist services accordingly, including liaison and case coordination with other departments – both internal to Wellbeing Services, the wider University and External services. You will be an experienced practitioner within the wellbeing/welfare field who has a thoughtful and adaptable approach to your work, with a real interest in sensitively supporting students with potentially complex difficulties. You will have a passion for early-intervention and the role of sport and fitness in health  A DBS Check will need to be completed.

This role is a key student-facing role where visibility on campus will be key. However, in line with Service Policy, hybrid-working will be available depending on the needs of the service.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.
