Communications and Marketing are seeking a Widening Participation Officer (Welsh Language) to play a key role in the delivery of Widening Participation activity and programmes, through the medium of Welsh; undertaking project and event management, providing information, advice and guidance along with support, and leading projects within this area.

The role has a particular focus on leading in the recruitment of Welsh speaking students facilitated by establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with Welsh medium schools.

In the first instance, the post-holder will develop connections with Welsh medium schools, conducting a scoping exercise to understand what types of support and engagement would be most beneficial. The role holder will initiate and create new activities and programmes, taking a creative and pioneering approach.

The role will require a flexible approach to working hours. It will include out of hours working and some weekend working.

There will be some element of manual handling in terms of event set up/breakdown as well as the preparation and distribution of materials for events and mailings. 

The role is based at Sbarc, on the Cathays Campus. The team works in the office on Monday and Tuesday and from home for the remainder of the week. However, there are regular occasions when the team are required to be on campus, Wednesday to Friday (e.g. to support event delivery) so a flexible approach is required. The role holder will also be required to travel to schools throughout Wales on any day of the week.

This post is available on a full-time basis (35 hours a week) and is fixed term for 2 years.

Salary: £33,951 - £36,636 per annum (Grade 5), appointments will be made at the bottom of the scale.
