We are seeking to recruit a Programme Manager who will play a central role in supporting the strategic and operational delivery of industry-funded collaborative research programmes in Experimental Medicine within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), in particular, the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology. The role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with the ability to work closely with academic researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to ensure programmes align with institutional priorities, remain on track and deliver on objectives.

In this role, you will build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (such as industry collaborators, clinicians and researchers), vendors, across the University and the NIHR BRC partnership, ensuring alignment and shared accountability across all areas of programme delivery.

You will define and agree programme scope, objectives, and deliverables in consultation with senior stakeholders, aligning with institutional strategies and priorities as well as develop and lead the delivery of complex programmes, tracking milestones, resources, interdependencies, and risks to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and to budget.

You will be responsible for measuring and monitoring programme progress, performance and impact outcomes using appropriate methodology, systems, tools and techniques and championing best practice in the delivery of projects. This will include the use of a reporting and monitoring process for all aspects of programmes delivery  and working closely with project leads to adapt project plans and activities as necessary.

You must be educated to a degree level or hold equivalent experience. You must have programme management experience in delivering complex, high-value or multi-stakeholder programmes that include industry partners alongside the ability to build credibility and foster strong working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders including with industry. You will demonstrate experience in managing complex budgets and ensuring financial compliance, and of working in a complex academic or research environment. You must possess knowledge of contracting, IP and commercialisation within the University setting and have the ability to lead and influence multi-disciplinary teams, whether through line management or matrix structures.

Familiarity with project management tools and systems (e.g. MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana) and experience of working within UK clinical research structures and regulatory and ethical systems are desirable.

Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:
