About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturers to teach across undergraduate levels within the BSc (Hons) Psychology programme. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education, widening participation and supporting students from varied backgrounds. Due to our flexible delivery model, teaching may take place on weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality, engaging teaching sessions across undergraduate Psychology modules.
- Design, plan and update teaching materials that reflect current research, industry practice and pedagogical innovation.
- Develop assessments, mark student work and ensure learning outcomes are met in line with academic standards.
- Provide constructive, timely feedback and academic support to help students progress and succeed.
- Contribute to curriculum development, programme enhancement and quality assurance processes across the Faculty and GBS.
- Embed digital tools and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience.
- Maintain accurate student records, monitor attendance and support student engagement.
- Participate in programme reviews, open days, outreach events and partnership activities.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues, external partners and academic teams.
- Engage in continuous professional development, including teaching observations, workshops and scholarly activity.
- Support the creation and dissemination of knowledge within Psychology and higher education practice.
- Meet performance expectations related to student attendance, continuation, completion and satisfaction.
- Act as Module Leader or undertake administrative duties as assigned by the Dean or Deputy Dean.
- Contribute to the wider academic community and take on additional responsibilities as part of professional growth.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Psychology or relevant scholarly activity.
- Experience teaching in UK higher education.
- Strong communication skills and professional conduct.
- Experience supporting learners both in person and online.
- Commitment to widening participation and inclusive education.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience supervising student work and providing effective feedback.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Doctoral qualification in Psychology or equivalent professional achievement.
- Industry experience in Psychology.
- BPS membership or equivalent.
- Teaching qualification (PGCHE, MA HE Practice, FHEA, etc.).
