As one of the world's oldest and most successful Universities, the University of Cambridge has an outstanding reputation for academic achievement and research and is consistently ranked among the foremost universities in the world. Our academic and research endeavours that help us work towards our mission are supported by the work taking place across the six Schools. The School of Arts and Humanities is seeking an experienced Faculty Manager assigned to the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.
The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (AMES) and its two departments, East Asian Studies and Middle Eastern Studies, combine world-class scholarship with a great teaching and learning environment for undergraduate (https://www.ames.cam.ac.uk/study-with-us/undergraduate-study) and postgraduate (https://www.ames.cam.ac.uk/study-with-us/postgraduate-study) students.
The Faculty is a rich intellectual community that includes established academic staff, language instructors, postdocs, and research affiliates. Its academics are leading scholars in Arabic Studies, Chinese Studies, Hebrew Studies, Japanese Studies, Korean Studies, and Persian Studies, with many working across these cultures.
Their internationally recognised work covers a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to history, literature, material culture, linguistics, social anthropology, politics, international relations, and religions of the Middle East and East Asia.
They spearhead the mission to Globalize the Humanities, working across disciplines, by producing cutting-edge research that challenges received knowledge and expands how disciplines are conceptualised.
The Faculty greatly values the teamwork between academic and professional services colleagues.
The purpose of the role is to support the Faculty in achieving its strategic aims and objectives through effective management of the administration and operations of the Faculty.
