Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities

As Team Leader within the Doctoral College, you will deputise for the Doctoral College Manager and provide high-level administrative and organisational support across Academic Services and Schools. You will act as a key advisor on University policies, regulations, and procedures, ensuring compliance and delivering expert guidance to students, academic, and professional staff. A significant part of the role involves overseeing the operational management of research degree examinations, including coordinating examiner appointments, managing examination processes, and ensuring the timely conferment of awards. You will service key committees, including the Research Degrees Board, manage data integrity and reporting for regulatory returns, and contribute to quality enhancement initiatives. Additionally, you will lead and develop a team within the Doctoral College, ensuring effective workload management, staff development, and high standards of service delivery. 

Skills and experience required

You will have proven administrative experience within a complex and dynamic organisation, with the ability to manage competing demands and deliver results under pressure. Strong IT skills, including advanced use of MS Excel and experience in analysing and presenting data from multiple systems, are essential. You will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to produce and implement accurate procedures. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are required, along with the ability to build effective relationships with senior management, academic and professional colleagues, and external stakeholders. Experience in team management and supervisory responsibilities is essential, while knowledge of higher education administration and quality assurance systems is desirable.

Qualifications required

Minimum of a degree, or equivalent qualification, or substantial proven professional work experience, preferably in a Higher Education Institution.
