About the role:

We are currently looking for an experienced Scientific Officer to work within the Transgenic Team of the Biological Resources Unit (BRU). The aim of this post is to maintain day-to-day husbandry and welfare and breeding colony management of transgenic mice, , to support Project Licence holders and other licensees, in accordance with the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

About you:

You should have a HNC in Animal Technology or equivalent along with experience of transgenic mouse breeding and colony management. You should be the holder of a current or previous holder of a Personal Licence under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.  You will have a proven ability to prioritise and carry out routine tasks and procedures under minimum supervision. You will have excellent organisational, time management and communication skills and a thorough understanding of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.  Motivation is essential, as is accuracy and attention to detail.  You should be computer literate and competent in the use of standard office software. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team and must be able to work at weekends and on Bank Holidays as part of the out-of-hours rota.
