Arden University is seeking an inspiring and experienced Head of Department – Computing (Postgraduate) to provide academic leadership across our postgraduate computing provision. Reporting to the Head of School – Computing, this is a pivotal role for a collaborative and student-centred leader who is passionate about digital education, academic excellence, and delivering outstanding student outcomes.

About the Department
The Computing Department delivers industry-relevant programmes designed to prepare students for careers across software development, cybersecurity, data analytics, IT consultancy, and digital leadership. Through blended and applied learning, we equip students with practical skills, professional behaviours, and critical thinking capabilities required in a fast-evolving global technology sector.
The Role
As Head of Department – Computing (PG), you will be accountable for academic quality, student experience, and outcomes across postgraduate programmes. You will lead and develop academic staff, drive curriculum innovation, and ensure teaching, assessment, and feedback practices are of the highest standard. The role involves strategic planning, quality assurance, staff recruitment and development, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
You will line manage Senior Lecturers and other academic staff, support performance and development, and foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement. You may also contribute to teaching within your area of expertise where appropriate.
This role operates on a hybrid working model, requiring two days per week at our Stratford campus. Occasional travel to other Arden locations, including Manchester and Berlin, may be required.
