The MediaLab Technician role represents an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of advanced media prodocution within Queen's University Belfast's innovative MediaLab facility. This position combines technical expertise in 3D content creation and animation with cutting-edge virtual production workflows, including LED volume systems, motion capture technologies, and real-time rendering pipelines. As a key member of the MediaLab team, you'll leverage your background as a 3D generalist and animator to support projects spanning research, teaching, and commercial applications.

The role offers significant variety, encompassing technical demonstration delivery, vendor relationship management, and planning for future technology adoption. This position provides exceptional opportunities for professional development in the rapidly evolving virtual production sector, with involvement in curriculum development, industry partnerships, and emerging technology evaluation.

About The Job

Essential Critiera

  • Degree in 3D Animation, VFX, Film Production, Game Development, Digital Media, or related field OR HND level 5, with significant professional experience as a 3D Generalist, Animator, or Virtual Production Technician
  • Significant experience as 3D Generalist and/or Animator
  • Demonstrable experience with 3D content creation tools for film, broadcast, or interactive media
  • Demonstrable experience executing technically complex work and maintaining a productive attitude under pressure.
  • Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Office suite and the application of digital skills in a collaborative multi-discipline environment
