The University of Leeds is one of the UK’s largest higher education institutions, globally renowned for the quality of our teaching and research. We encourage enquiry, discovery and achievement by bringing together academic excellence and an inspirational learning environment. Our ambitions are underpinned by an outstanding community of staff and students, a world-class campus and a strong financial position. The University also plays a key role at the heart of one of the UK’s most economically vibrant and compassionate cities, and takes its economic, social, environmental and cultural responsibilities very seriously.

Our University Strategy 2020–2030, Universal Values, Global Change, sets a blueprint for a values-driven university that harnesses our expertise in research and education to shape a better future for humanity, working through collaboration to tackle inequalities, achieve societal impact and drive change in genuinely distinctive and transformational ways.

We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to become Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the newly aligned Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, which brings together the Faculty of Medicine and Health and the Faculty of Biological Sciences. This strategic alignment creates a unique opportunity to unlock the added value of combining two world-class faculties. Together, we will deliver a truly immersive, trans-disciplinary approach to tackling real-world health challenges, and provide outstanding education with technology and innovation at its core.

As a member of the University Executive Group and reporting to the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, you will shape the strategic direction and create a compelling academic vision for one of our largest and most complex faculties. You will foster a shared culture and drive efficiencies. Most importantly, you will position the Faculty as a leader in interdisciplinary research and innovation, health service advancement, global health leadership, outstanding student experience, and impactful partnerships locally and globally. You will champion collaboration across Schools and Faculties, build coherence across programmes, and ensure the Faculty plays a leading role in advancing the University’s international ambitions. Acting as an ambassador for Leeds, you will enhance our external profile, strengthen partnerships with industry, healthcare and research organisations, and contribute to shaping national and international policy.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead a significant part of the University's academic portfolio, leveraging the Faculty’s combined strengths to propel it forward to even greater excellence. We are seeking candidates with sustained senior academic leadership experience at a strategic level, who can successfully engage and inspire staff through the complexities of transformational change. You will be a leading academic with a strong personal research and teaching track record, with strategic vision, creativity and resilience, and will share our values of collaboration, compassion, integrity and inclusivity.
