Student Life is the central service for providing a range of wellbeing support services to students. Services include general wellbeing and engagement, health and wellbeing, counselling, residential and student financial support.
The Student Finance and Funds team is responsible for the collection of tuition and accommodation fees from both students as well as external organisations such as the Student Loans Company, the management of payments for the Universities bursary and scholarship schemes as well as advice and guidance on all aspects of statutory student funding including the University hardship fund.
About the role
We have an opportunity to recruit a Student Payments Support Officer to join our busy team to provide a wide range of financial support activities to assist our students. We are seeking a suitably qualified candidate who has experience working in a finance/advice related service preferably with young people or in the charity sector.
The post holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to students, including the clear and accurate explanation of complex financial information. The role requires proven experience in managing high volumes of financial transactions with a consistently high level of accuracy. Excellent communication skills are essential, together with the ability to demonstrate empathy and professionalism when supporting students experiencing financial hardship. The ability to understand the importance of ensuring that the Universities financial regulations are adhered to is essential. Candidates should possess substantial experience in office administration and student support functions.
Excellent organisational, communication and Microsoft Office skills are required as well as the ability to work under pressure. We are a very supportive service and being a team-player is an essential requirement for this post. The post holder will be required to work flexibly in a student facing office-based environment, prioritise workloads and be able to show personal initiative and judgement.
Interviews are expected to take place on 19 February 2026.
This post is permanent, subject to the normal probationary period of 12 months.
