Head of Department - Fashion

Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD) is the first higher education institution in Bangladesh to deliver international FE and HE programmes. We currently offer full UK degrees from the University of London and University of Lancashire, programs from Monash College, and international foundations.

UCBD is seeking to appoint a Head of Department - Fashion to lead the development of our new Fashion Suites, and to establish UK Bachelor of Arts programmes in Fashion Promotion & Marketing, and Fashion Design. 

The Head of Department – Fashion will provide clear academic leadership, promoting a creative culture that supports a high quality student academic experience. You will work with colleagues to foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment in which students can excel. You will ensure that teaching and learning encourages students to innovate as designers, makers, promoters, and entrepreneurs. You will cultivate strong industry engagement and external partnerships with the leading apparel businesses in Bangladesh, and expand opportunities for internships, employability and progression to postgraduate study.

You will be educated to at least Master’s level in Fashion Design or Fashion Promotion and Marketing, and will bring substantial knowledge of contemporary applied practice to your role. You will have experience in Higher Education, with a passion to deliver high quality teaching in your area of expertise, and an unwavering commitment to student success and an excellent student experience. Ideally you will already have some direct management or team leadership experience, with the capacity to guide and mentor colleagues. You’ll have the proven ability to plan, prepare, and teach across a range of courses, monitor learner progress, and be actively involved in every aspect of the student journey from first enquiry through to graduation. You will look forward to establishing solid relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and key contacts in partner institutions. As a leader you will have an interest in pursuing professional development and scholarly activities to ensure your own and your team’s discipline knowledge, teaching expertise, and practice are of the highest standards.
