Kingston School of Art is recruiting a part-time Lecturer in Fine Art, this is a fixed-term position for one year.

You will join a dynamic academic community, working closely with students and staff in a supportive and student-centred environment. You will provide tutorials and deliver teaching across the MFA Fine Art and BA Fine Art programmes.

Your teaching will be informed by your specialist artistic practice and your research will contribute to the School’s wider research culture. Drawing on your sector experience and using a range of teaching approaches and digital tools, you will help deliver a Fine Art education that is critically engaged and responsive to contemporary artistic, cultural and professional contexts.

The Person

You will hold a relevant postgraduate qualification, or equivalent in experience, and show a commitment to developing your professional and pedagogic practice.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and well-established professional networks within the UK and internationally. You will be well organised, inspiring and an engaging public speaker with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proven experience of managing complex projects and schedules, working collaboratively within a team and supporting the needs of others, both individually and in large groups, is essential.

You will be a practising artist with a growing national and international profile and network, strong knowledge of contemporary art practice and theory and experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The Faculty

Kingston School of Art (KSA), founded in 1899, is one of the UK’s oldest art and design institutions. It is recognised for its practice-based teaching, interdisciplinary approach and strong industry connections. The School offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees across art, design, architecture and the creative industries. It houses key facilities including the Stanley Picker Gallery and Dorich House Museum and benefits from its proximity to central London.

KSA is consistently ranked among the top art and design schools globally. In the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, Kingston University was placed in the top 5% worldwide for Art & Design. The School is also highly regarded within the UK creative education sector.

The School’s research centres include the Centre for Practice Research in Art (CePRA), which supports interdisciplinary practice-led research across fine art, design and curatorial practices. Its work focuses on innovative creative methodologies, sustainability and cultural engagement.

This is a part-time (18.5 hours per week) 12-month fixed term role with a starting salary of £22,512.50 (50% of £45,025 per annum).
