ABOUT US
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) traces its heritage back to the first university in Wales, receiving its Royal Charter in 1828. UWTSD now teaches over 16,000 students across its six campuses in the UK; four in Wales and two in England. It has long-standing international educational partnerships in Europe, China, Malaysia, the USA and elsewhere.
Our aim is to transform education, and by doing so transform the lives of the individuals and the communities we serve. We are already recognised for providing an outstanding student experience:
Our success is due to the commitment, skill, knowledge, and ability of our people working together. We are now building on this strong culture and provision to become a leading provider of accessible higher education.
We are now looking for a Student Engagement Officer to join our Birmingham campus on a full-time, permanent contract, working 37 hours per week.
THE ROLE
The postholder will be a member of the Student Engagement team and will work closely with all functional areas to provide an effective, timely and supportive service to Home and International students as well as compliance with University and other relevant bodies such as UKVI and the Students Loan Company.
The postholder will act as the first point of call for student queries and will be empowered to resolve a list of common student queries and issues without the need for further referral. Where referral is required, the postholder will make an active referral and track the resolution of student issues through to completion. The student frontline team will be in regular communication with colleagues to ensure a consistent high-quality approach to student support. The postholder will be required to build effective and sustainable working relationships within the University such as the Registry, Academic Office, and Students’ Union as well as with external organisations.
The post holder will be required to work within the Student Engagement Team, as well as working closely with other student-facing professional teams, lecturing staff and colleagues as appropriate to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively. The role also requires the post holder to be able to work independently and use initiative with the self-motivation to meet deadlines. The post may require travel between different delivery locations and other University sites depending on operational needs.
Please see job description for full responsibilities and requirements.
