The Role 

In the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Professor of Law. The Law School at Exeter is one of the UK’s leading law schools with an international reputation for world-leading research and teaching. As part of a comprehensive investment plan in the School, which covers new academic posts and investment in the real estate, we are seeking new colleagues who have expertise to support growth in our research power, and the expansion of our undergraduate and postgraduate portfolios.

We are especially interested in hearing from you if you can offer teaching and research in the field of Intellectual Property, to support the delivery of our new LLM in Intellectual Property & Technology. We would also consider those with interests allied to Intellectual Property, for example: Artificial Intelligence and the Law, Data Regulation, and new/emerging technologies, particularly if there is some interface with Intellectual Property. All colleagues are expected to offer teaching in one undergraduate core subject (Legal Foundations, Contract, Criminal Law, Constitutional & Administrative Law, Torts, Land Law, Equity & Trusts, EU Law).

About you 

For an Associate Professor post you will: 

  • Be a leading authority in your area of expertise with an international reputation, as evidenced by research publications, a sustained trajectory in research grant income, and PhD supervision, as well as other esteem indicators. 
  • Have experience of making significant contribution to the development and clarification of research strategy for your subject area.
  • Have the experience and skills to contribute to and develop our educational programmes and the overall student experience. 
  • Have the aptitude and willingness to take on leadership roles and staff mentoring within the Law School.
