About us
The Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health, part of UCL’s Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care and led by Professor Kate Walters and Professor Greta Rait, delivers high‑quality teaching in community‑based primary care and public health. The Department conducts internationally competitive, multi‑disciplinary research focused on the management and prevention of disease in individuals and populations.
About the role
This post sits within the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS) Hub delivered by Imperial College London, UCL, Queen Mary University of London and King’s College London. You will support innovation in applied health and social care research, with a particular focus on advising industry partners and SMEs in the health technology, medical technology and life sciences sectors.
You will provide expert methodological, regulatory and strategic advice to innovators, clinicians, academics and health and social care professionals. As part of the NIHR RSS Specialist Service for Industry, you will help develop competitive funding applications, support routes to market and contribute to translating innovative ideas into real‑world practice.

About you
You will have a strong background in applied health or social care research, supported by a PhD or equivalent experience. You will bring expertise in translational research, quantitative methods and the development or review of funding applications.
You will be confident engaging with SMEs, academics and clinicians, and able to communicate complex information clearly. Strong consultancy skills and an understanding of regulatory, governance and funding pathways that support innovation are essential. You will be highly organised, collaborative and comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams to help translate innovative ideas into impactful research.
