Responsible for: Quality Assurance, regulatory frameworks and compliance
Purpose
The quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the correct application of the institution’s policies, regulations and procedures as defined by HEI and Office for Students standards and requirements. He/she will work closely with the Head of Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with institutional and sector regulatory frameworks. In addition, they will be responsible for the regulation of associated risks from non-compliance, manage the delivery of the Quality Assurance Department’s procedures and regulations, and provide evidence to mitigate against institutional risk. The postholder will be required to demonstrate exceptional leadership and advice the Head of Quality Assurance on compliance of the programmes and modules offered by the institution in compliance with the requirements of the degree awarding body.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor academic compliance with relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies, taking corrective actions where necessary to address non-compliance.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to assess the effectiveness of quality assurance processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Must Achieve the Ofs, Partners and internal benchmark with minimum 90% in each segment.
- Maintain accurate records of quality assurance activities, findings, and outcomes, and prepare reports for the Head of Quality Assurance, senior management, and stakeholders as needed.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with external institutions, including the degree-awarding body, students, HEIs, and other stakeholders, to support the objectives of the SSS.
- Identify and enhance the Quality Assurance capabilities of QA representatives across various campuses to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Monitor and manage QA reports submitted by campus QA representatives through MS Teams.
- Ensure compliance with UKHE Partners' terms and conditions, and monitor performance against agreed benchmarks.
- Evaluate risks related to partnerships, collaborations, and quality assurance activities, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity.
- Organise and conduct QA-related training sessions for staff across SSS campuses, attend meetings, participate in staff capacity building, and support the preparation and coordination of quarterly and annual review reports.
- Provide expert QA advice to the Head of Quality Assurance to ensure alignment of institutional activities with the degree-awarding body’s standards, supporting its quality assurance strategies and initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Registrar and Associate Deans of Teaching and Learning, Student Support and Experience, and other relevant departments to manage the QA department’s preparation, delivery, and follow-up activities related to Quarterly Review reports, Programme Annual Reports, Collaborative Partnerships Annual Reports, and the Programme Enhancement Grid.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Head of Quality Assurance for Collaborative Partnerships.

Institutional Strategic KPIs
- Create and implement an institutional strategy to ensure compliance with the requirements of the degree-awarding body and OfS, focusing on standards, codes of practice, policies, and regulations.
- Lead the development of a comprehensive strategy for institution-wide compliance with key regulations set by OfS, degree-awarding bodies, and PSRBs for programmes and modules.
- Collaborate effectively with senior academic and non-academic staff across the institution, maintaining clear, professional, and timely communication. Enforce strict, non-negotiable deadlines in a sensitive yet impactful manner.
- Develop a strategic plan to proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement in internal quality assurance (QA) processes and structures, addressing the diverse needs of line managers and department heads.
- Establish a comprehensive institutional strategy to review the QA policy framework across all departments, ensuring alignment with OfS standards and requirements, as well as those of the degree-awarding body.
- Implement an institution-wide approach to monitor and review academic and non-academic risk registers for potential non-compliance, advising the Head of QA on any identified issues.
Departmental Strategic KPIs
- Use a Quality Tracker to monitor activities across departments, ensuring compliance with the degree-awarding body and OfS standards and requirements.
- Collaborate with the Head of QA to monitor departmental compliance with quality processes, in consultation with department heads, associate deans, and center managers.
- Regularly review the quality calendar for all SSS departments to ensure it remains current and relevant.
- Work with the Lead CLT from LTU/APU to integrate their calendar into the SSS quality calendar, promoting standardisation and consistency.
- Prepare quarterly report presentations and coordinate with the Teaching and Learning department to ensure timely preparation of QR reports for the two programs of study.
- Oversee the policy document index and control sheet to ensure departmental policies are updated and aligned with the requirements of OfS and the degree-awarding body.
- Periodically assess departmental structures and processes to identify any changes or deviations from compliance.
- Develop and review policies and frameworks within the QA department to meet the requirements of the degree-awarding body and OfS.
- Update the training needs register for departments, coordinating training efforts and ensuring they are conducted as scheduled.
- Prepare field reports following QA visits, presenting findings to department heads, relevant committees, and senior management for further action.
- Coordinate departmental efforts to ensure the timely preparation, delivery, and post-activity follow-up for Programme Annual Review Reports, Collaborative Partnerships Annual Review Reports, and the Programme Enhancement Grid.
- Monitor, review, and manage the implementation of QA tools, instruments, and templates to drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in reviews of assessment quality, including internal and external moderations, ensuring they meet their intended purpose.
- Regularly assess online reports submitted by Centre QA Representatives, conducting meetings to discuss, identify, and address quality issues, including targeted actions.
- Review partner institution website(s) periodically to assess the effectiveness of resource links, including Moodle, eVision, and others.
- Periodically evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of SSS's internal technology tools, including CRM.
- Monitor student academic misconduct and appeals cases to ensure compliance with procedures.
Person Specifications
- Masters’ degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.
- Relevant Professional certificate in quality management, including Six Sigma, Lean, ISO 9001, or ASQ Certified Quality Manager can be an added advantage.
- Relevant certificates in data analysis, such as Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate may be an added advantage
- Significant experience of monitoring, managing and enhancing quality standards, procedures, frameworks, regulations, and best practices in higher education
- Experience of dealing with partnerships or collaborations with relevant HEI(s) to achieve institutional objectives and drive innovation can be an added advantage
- Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting techniques, including statistical analysis.
- Membership of a quality assurance body is an added advantage
Personal/Role based benefits
- Salary is £55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
- Holiday entitlement is 28 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays
- Up to £5k annual incentives pro-rata given quarterly on meeting KPIs after successful probationary period
- 3% annual increase per year on completion from your start date of service and on meeting KPIs
- Complimentary lunch provided on working days
Job Type
- Basic hours are 40 Hours weekly
- Working hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Field visits to the respective SSS campuses are periodically required, all travel expenses reimbursed.
