We’re looking for an experienced administrator to hit the ground running to cover maternity leave. Do you have the skills to help us?
Our Administrative Assistant is on maternity leave until 19 April 2027 which provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to join our small professional team supporting the Faculty of Philosophy.
The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of tasks to support the administrative and academic activities of the Faculty, including acting as the first point of contact at the Philosophy Faculty, dealing with visitors, and coordinating arrangements for the Faculty’s series of seminars with invited speakers.
This role will suit an individual who enjoys being part of a busy office and working in an environment of changing priorities. The post-holder will be required to be both proactive and reactive, and be able to work effectively as a team member as well as on their own initiative to ensure the smooth running of the Faculty and its activities.
As well as the opportunity to work as part of a supportive team, we can offer you a competitive salary (including an Oxford Weighting Allowance), 38 days holiday per year, enrolment in a good pension scheme, access to employee benefits and discounts and professional development opportunities.
In return we are looking for a candidate with experience of managing administrative processes, preferably in the Higher Education sector; the ability to work independently with minimum supervision; a willing, resilient and flexible attitude; the ability to work well with people at all levels, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. Previous experience of editing websites would also be advantageous.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work on-site daily (Monday-Friday) from 9am-5pm and be available to start in late March 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applications for this post are to be made online and should be made no later than 12 noon on 13 February 2026. Applicants will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of their online application.
Interviews will take place during week commencing 23 February 2026
