Applications are invited for a permanent appointment as Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Creative and Cultural Industries in the School of Art History and Cultural Policy. The successful candidate will be a core member of the School’s Cultural Policy and Industries team, which delivers the new BA Humanities in Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI), as well as the highly regarded and long-standing MA in Cultural Policy and Arts Management. The BA in CCI is a new four-year degree at UCD that blends the breadth and richness of an arts and humanities degree with innovation, organisational, digital and management skills. Combining project-based work with high-level career mentorship, this programme prepares students for careers as cultural entrepreneurs, producers, and creative practitioners. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new and evolving progr amme at UCD, in collaboration with a wide range of colleagues across Colleges of Arts & Humanities, Social Science & Law, and Business. The programme has also been developed in concert with the Creative Futures Academy (2020-25), an initiative intended to augment the delivery of creative education at all stages, working with sectoral and industry partners creativefuturesacademy.ie.
Applications are welcome from excellent candidates with a PhD qualification whose expertise expands the School’s research strengths, and its undergraduate and graduate teaching programmes. We are seeking candidates with experience in sectors not already represented amongst programme staff, particularly those whose research/experience engages with the commercial creative industries. These include (but are not limited to) fashion; game studies; film, television and screen studies; marketing and advertising; creative entrepreneurship; cultural management; new media and digital practice; media and communications; design; etc. Please note that PhD awards must be completed and conferred.
