The role

We are seeking an outstanding individual to join our world-class academics in He Rau Kawakawa (School of Pharmacy) at the University of Otago, in Te Wai Pounamu. This is a full-time, permanent position at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level in the area of Clinical Pharmacy.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Bringing research-informed expertise to the School of Pharmacy.
  • Leading innovation and research-informed teaching in your area of expertise.
  • Contributing to teaching in the pharmacy undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Establishing and conducting an active research programme.

Applicants should also have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, with the application of skills to enable best health outcomes.

You will join an enthusiastic group of staff in a research-active School which places a high emphasis on quality research and research-informed teaching.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this key role you will preferably have:

  • A PhD degree in a relevant area or hold a similar level of clinical qualification.
  • A pharmacy qualification registrable in New Zealand.
  • A prescribing qualification is desirable.
  • Post-doctoral research experience.
  • Experience in designing and delivering in-person and online instructional workshops, training modules, and tutorials.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
  • Leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Good communication skills and an ability to work co-operatively with others.
  • Commitment to Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A commitment to supporting the University's Māori, Pacific, and Sustainability strategic frameworks.
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent research and a good record of publications in refereed journals.

This is a permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE) position based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The salary range for a Lecturer is $97,377 to $114,943 per annum, and for a Senior Lecturer is $120,494 to $137,444 per annum. The successful candidate will be appointed to an appropriate level on either the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer scale, based on skills and experience.
