Eton College is a charity for the advancement of education. At its heart sits an independent boys' boarding school with 1,340 pupils aged 13 to 18, leading a dynamic range of educational activities and an expanding network of educational partnerships both locally and further afield. Whilst honouring its 500+ years of history and tradition, the College continues to be forward-thinking and leading edge across a range of educational and outreach areas. 

Following the promotion of the current incumbent, the Head Master and Senior Leadership Team are seeking to recruit someone with deep expertise to this pivotal role. The Director of Eton Futures has strategic responsibility for guiding boys as they look to their future lives and careers, incorporating higher education and career education advice, and ensuring that boys applying to universities in the UK and overseas receive the very best support possible. Between 2021 and 2025, over 450 Etonians either received an ‘Oxbridge’ offer or accepted an offer to study in the US. 

Reporting to the Deputy Head (Curriculum), the successful candidate will operate at a senior level within the College and beyond, with a range of important relationships across the staff, senior leadership, student, parental and alumni communities. They will stay abreast of global trends, forge strategic partnerships with top universities and workplaces worldwide (especially in the UK, the US and Europe), and create structures which ensure that Eton boys receive the best possible guidance in making their life-defining choices. 

Applications are welcomed from individuals with deep experience in schools, higher education, commercial HR, or in adjacent advisory processes. Outstanding candidates for this role will have particularly strong knowledge of university admissions, both in the UK and overseas, combined with an exceptional understanding of the changing workplace and higher education landscape. They will possess an irrepressible enthusiasm for matching talented young people to opportunities that suit their aptitudes and talents. 

The Director of Eton Futures will be an effective leader who demonstrates meticulous attention to detail and has experience working in complex organisations with an ability to manage and drive change. They will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people from boys to colleagues and parents. Above all, they will have high levels of personal integrity and a genuine commitment to Eton's aims and ethos.
