As the University builds on its proud heritage, we are looking for exceptional people to help shape our future. We provide a high-quality professional environment, inspired by our distinctive ethos and Catholic mission and values. Our values of excellence, generosity of spirit, inclusiveness and respect inspire us to create an academic community in which everybody is welcomed and which puts the student at the centre of all our endeavours.
The School of Medicine opens in September 2026 as one of the UK’s first socially accountable medical schools, dedicated to tackling health inequalities and serving diverse communities.
St Mary’s University, Twickenham is seeking an exceptional community practitioner and academic leader to join our new and ambitious School of Medicine as Lead for Inclusion and Communities (Professor). This is a unique opportunity to shape a socially accountable medical school grounded in equity, inclusion and meaningful community engagement.
Rooted in our Catholic mission and values, St Mary’s is proud of its welcoming academic community, commitment to social justice, and focus on transformational student experiences. As we expand our reach locally, nationally and internationally, we are looking for a values-driven academic who shares our vision and is motivated to make a lasting societal impact.
The School of Medicine is developing an innovative MBBS programme built around a spiral curriculum integrating science, clinical knowledge, professional practice and human values. Our vision is to educate future doctors who understand both the biomedical and sociocultural dimensions of health and who are actively engaged with the communities they serve.
As Lead for Inclusion and Communities (0.2FTE), you will play a pivotal role in delivering the School’s social accountability mission. You will ensure that principles of equity, inclusion and community engagement are embedded across all aspects of the School’s work, while also contributing fully as a Professor (0.2FTE) through research, teaching and academic leadership.
