Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £47,389 to £56,535, with potential progression once in post. Grade 8
Hours: Full Time (This position is also available on a part-time basis or as a job share).
The University is entering an exciting period of growth, with a turnover exceeding £1bn and operations across multiple jurisdictions including the UK, Dubai, China, India and Europe. As we continue to expand our global footprint and pursue ambitious strategic targets, the complexity and scale of our tax landscape is evolving rapidly. To support this, we are seeking a proactive, self‑starting Deputy Tax Manager to join our Corporate Accounting team.
Working closely with the University’s Tax Manager, you will play a central role in managing tax compliance, reporting and advisory matters across VAT, corporation tax and international taxes. This is a highly varied and outward‑facing position that requires curiosity, confidence and the ability to take the initiative. You will be a trusted advisor to departments, colleges and research teams, providing clear, accessible guidance while also building the reputation and visibility of the Tax Team across the University.
Core responsibilities include managing the monthly and quarterly VAT cycle, preparing UK and overseas corporation and VAT tax filings, supporting transfer pricing and cross‑border tax obligations, and leading process improvements across tax functions. You will contribute to international tax compliance for our subsidiaries and collaborative programmes overseas, engage with HMRC and external advisors, and help shape the long‑term development of the University’s tax function—particularly around data analytics, automation and the future use of digital tools.
