Main duties and responsibilities
The MBBS Assessment and Student Records Manager will play a key role in delivering assessment and student administration, ensuring assessments are delivered smoothly, outcomes are recorded accurately, and performance information is provided to both internal and external stakeholders, including the production and analysis of assessment statistics to support decision‑making and quality assurance. Working closely with academic colleagues, professional services, and external examiners, you will act as a central contact for assessment matters, monitor student progression, and produce reports for the MBBS academic team.
Responsibilities include creating and maintaining the annual assessment cycle, including the coordination of marking arrangements, supporting specialist examination software, and overseeing standard-setting to confirm pass marks. The role also involves producing statistical analysis, supporting clinical assessments and maintaining accurate student records in line with statutory reporting requirements. You will have oversight of staff issues including excellent people management, appointment, development promotion and progression and review of performance. You will oversee staff workloads and have a visible commitment, management and maintenance of high standards of safety.
Skills and experience required
The successful candidate will have significant experience working in a complex administrative environment with accountability to stakeholders and the ability to reconcile conflicting demands and to work under pressure to deadlines with minimum supervision. You will have experience of working with a wide range of people in a customer focused environment and a commitment to delivering an excellent student experience. Experience in managing staff and organising workloads is essential to support efficient operations. Experience in medical assessments and coordinating formal examinations, digital exam processes, or invigilation is desirable.
You will be highly proficient in IT, including extensive experience using databases, Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools), and MS Word for producing high‑quality documents and reports. Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills are vital, alongside the ability to work independently. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as is an understanding of confidentiality and knowledge of data protection requirements. Experience with statistical methods and packages (e.g., SPSS) and assessment standard-setting processes would be advantageous. The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude to problem-solving and the ability to demonstrate initiative.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent or proven administrative experience.
