Advance musculoskeletal podiatry through education, research, and real-world impact with the University of Plymouth.

About the role

The role involves delivering high-quality teaching and student support across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, using innovative and inclusive approaches that enhance learning and employability. You will actively contribute to research and enterprise through developing projects, securing funding, publishing high-quality outputs, and integrating research into teaching. You will build strong national and international research and professional networks, engage with industry and professional bodies, and support student supervision and pastoral care. The role also includes leadership and management responsibilities, such as programme and module leadership, curriculum development, quality assurance, recruitment and marketing activities, and contributing to a collaborative, high-quality teaching and research environment.

You will:

  • Deliver outstanding teaching and student support across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including supervision, assessment, placements, and pastoral care.
  • Develop a strong, research-active profile, contributing to funded projects, high-quality publications, and embedding research excellence within teaching.
  • Build impactful external partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and research networks to enhance employability, collaboration, and the University’s profile.
  • Contribute to academic leadership and curriculum innovation, including programme development, quality assurance, recruitment activity, and collaborative team working.

For this role, you will need to be on site 2 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs.

Due to the nature of this role, an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus a Children’s Barred List and Adults Barred List check will be required.

What we’re looking for

  • In-depth knowledge of musculoskeletal podiatry including biomechanics, gait analysis, lower limb pathology sufficient to enable innovation and new understanding in the field
  • In-depth knowledge of musculoskeletal podiatry including biomechanics, gait analysis, lower limb pathology sufficient to enable innovation and new understanding in the field.
  • Knowledge of contemporary podiatry curricula, professional standards and regulatory requirements relevant to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
  • Significant post-qualification clinical experience in musculoskeletal podiatry across a range of patient presentations and care settings.
  • Experience of delivering high quality research led teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Works effectively and collegiately as a part of an interdisciplinary team.

You must currently be registered with the following registration board: Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC): excluding social workers in England
