About the role

As Senior Store Manager of the Fresh Store at The University of Bath, you’ll lead a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment serving over 20,000 customers each week during term time on our thriving campus. This is a unique opportunity to run a Southern Co-op franchise operated entirely by University of Bath staff and students, right at the heart of campus life.

You will have full responsibility for a diverse and complex store offer, including a Post Office and instore bakery, ensuring excellent standards, product availability, and service across all areas. Managing ordering across multiple suppliers, you will investigate stock variances, maintain tight stock control, and ensure all procedures are consistently followed, with a strong focus on reducing wastage and maximising profitability.

People leadership is central to this role. You will recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team, embedding a positive, inclusive culture where every team member feels valued and contributes to the success of the store. You will set clear expectations, lead by example, and create an environment that supports learning, accountability, and teamwork.

You will also take ownership of on-shelf availability, store standards, and operational compliance, ensuring the store looks great and performs at its best at all times. Planning and organisation will be key, as you manage promotional calendar changes, annual stocktakes, and planned closure periods, keeping operations running smoothly throughout the academic year.

This is a hands-on, varied, and rewarding role for a motivated retail leader who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys making a real impact within a vibrant university community.
