Introduction
York Law School has funding available to support one full-time campus-based PhD studentship. Successful applicants will receive a stipend in line with UKRI rates (currently £21,383 per year) and a fee waiver at the home student rate for three years.
Department
York Law School is an internationally renowned centre for legal research, with strengths in doctrinal, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary approaches. Supervisors at York include experts in a broad range of practice-based areas, as well as scholars with outstanding reputations for socio-legal, comparative, and legal-theoretical work.
Eligibility
You must be applying to study the PhD in Law (full-time and campus-based) and not already registered on a PhD programme at the University of York. Applicants who already hold a PhD are not eligible to apply.
We invite the submission of PhD proposals that align with the specific staff research areas - you can find out more here. You are strongly encouraged to make contact with a potential supervisor in advance of making an application.
International students are welcome to apply, but please note that we are unable to waive the full international fee, so you would need to provide evidence of your ability to pay the outstanding fees. The stipend cannot be used for the purposes of funding PhD fees.
This scholarship is not available for part-time or distance learning routes.
