The University of Hertfordshire is opening a new Medical School with the first cohort of students starting in September 2026. There is currently an enthusiastic academic and clinical core team, developing, adopting and adapting the MBBS curriculum in line with City St George’s Medical School, University of London, who are our sponsor. We are now seeking to expand our team to implement the curriculum in preparation for the arrival of our students. Newly appointed staff will receive full support from our existing team.
Main duties and responsibilities
The IPE Lead will provide strategic and operational leadership for Interprofessional Education across the School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (HML) with a focus on MBBS programme. The main responsibility of the postholder is to design and implement a progressive, School-wide IPE strategy that supports meaningful, authentic interprofessional learning opportunities. Working collaboratively with the HMLIPE Working Group and programme teams, the postholder will ensure IPE is coherently embedded across curricula, supporting shared development and promoting collaborative practice.
Skills and experience required
The successful candidate will be able to evidence experience in designing or delivering interprofessional learning or cross-disciplinary education with evidence of work at the departmental or institutional level, experience of leading collaborative initiatives across professional groups or programmes with evaluated impact, and experience of contributing to curriculum development and educational innovation.
You will demonstrate a strong understanding of interprofessional learning principles and collaborative practice, a commitment to inter- and multi-professional education and innovation in developing solutions within complex, multi-professional stakeholder environments.
Qualifications required
Degree in a relevant health, medical, social care, or related discipline, postgraduate qualification at Master’s or Doctoral level, PGCert in HE and Fellowship of Advance HE.
