ABOUT US

Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

ABOUT THE POST

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver our BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and MSc Quantity Surveying programmes within the School of the Built Environment at London Metropolitan University. These industry-accredited programmes have been developed in partnership with employers and professional bodies to address the growing demand for graduates with expertise in cost management, procurement, commercial strategy, digital construction, and sustainable project delivery.

Our educational approach integrates academic knowledge with professional practice and industry innovation, ensuring that learning is directly applied to real-world challenges. Through live projects, authentic assessment, and the use of advanced digital tools, students develop the commercial, analytical and strategic capabilities required in today’s construction environment.

We are seeking an ambitious academic and/or industry practitioner ready to contribute to a professionally connected and forward-looking subject area. The successful applicant will hold a PhD in a relevant field or demonstrate equivalent expertise gained through professional practice and will hold full professional membership of a recognised body such as RICS or CIOB.

The post is based within the Surveying and Real Estate subject area at our Holloway Road campus.

We are expanding our expertise in Quantity Surveying and welcome applicants with experience in three or more of the following areas, with digital technologies being a required specialism:

  • Estimating and cost planning
  • Measurement and construction contract practice
  • Construction economics and procurement
  • Risk management and commercial management
  • Digital technologies in Quantity Surveying, including BIM for measurement and cost planning, digital take-off and estimating, data analytics, AI-enabled cost forecasting, and lifecycle analysis

Experience may have been gained through professional practice, teaching, or research. For appointments at Lecturer level, applicants should hold or be working towards professional membership of a relevant body such as RICS or CIOB.

For appointments at Senior Lecturer level, applicants will be expected to hold full chartered membership (e.g. MRICS or MCIOB) and demonstrate established academic or professional standing, including module or course leadership and sustained scholarly, research or industry engagement.

All post holders will contribute to inclusive teaching, student support, and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

Interviews due to be held in the week commencing 16 and 23 April 2026
