The University of Worcester is a high achieving, award-winning, dynamic institution set within an inclusive and engaged community. University of Worcester, Three Counties Medical School (TCMS) is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science, preferably with expertise in cell biology, microbiology and/or biochemistry, to support the delivery of our graduate‑entry MBChB programme.
Opened in September 2023, TCMS was established to widen access to medical careers and help develop and retain a skilled local medical workforce. Our MBChB curriculum is built around problem‑based learning (PBL), applied learning including simulation, and a strong emphasis on early patient contact.
You will be responsible for designing and developing learning materials and will make a significant contribution to lectures, practical teaching and the assessment for medical students, as well as contributing to the delivery of a high-quality student experience, working with the Phase Leads to ensure the MBChB programme curriculum is supported in respect of biomedical sciences. Applicants are expected to have a track record of research in a relevant field and engage in research and scholarship.
The post is offered at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated expertise. Ideally you will already have experience of teaching medical students or similar. However, key to the role is an interest in developing as a medical educator and the ability to work flexibly with the rest of the team to meet the needs of the MBChB curriculum. We are committed to supporting the professional development of our staff, and the successful candidate will have access to formal training, mentorship opportunities, and a vibrant academic network both within TCMS and the wider University.
If you are interested in joining us at this exciting time and would relish the challenge of playing a part in the future development of the Three Counties Medical School as we train the next generation of healthcare professionals, we welcome your application.
What's in it for you?
Informal enquiries should be addressed to Professor Rachel Ashworth (r.ashworth@worc.ac.uk), Lead for Phase 1.
Please note that if not already an employee of the University of Worcester, the appointed candidate will be employed through our subsidiary company Uniworc Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Worcester. Appointees of Uniworc Limited will automatically be enrolled into the Aviva FlexHE defined contribution pension scheme (subject to earnings and other eligibility criteria).
